CHRISMAS COOKIES - YUMMMO!

These are so tasty.

One of the Christmas traditions that we do every year is decorating Christmas cutout cookies.
This year there was 12 of us. Seems like every few years my family expands. (I like that) My best friend and her two grown daughters come to and maybe a boyfriend or two.

These are just some of the cookies me and my husband did. What ever cookie you decorate you can take it home with you. The older kids get pretty creative. Sorry I did not get pics of those.

Well these have to go the freezer until we need them for Christmas. Bye bye cookies, for now.
Oh yah! I cut out 145 cookies.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!,
TERESA

Christmas Project

For Christmas this year I am making my mother some place mats for her dining room table. As I have been cleaning her house I noticed that she has a pair of beaded candle rings that are purple and crystal beads with some pearls. So that was the inspiration for the purple color in the place mats.
I am making the mats 14 x 19 inches finished. I will also use fusible fleece in between the layers. I have never used the fleece before so I hope it is easy to work with.

On the back I think I will use the pansy fabric, so they can be reversible. I have also been contemplating about making the corners curved.
Such decisions.

Does anyone reading my blog
think that the curved corners would be a
good idea instead of the pointed corners?
I am making 6 mats and possible a runner too.

Let me know,

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE

I want to wish everyone a happy, wonderful and family filled Thanksgiving. I have been getting my house prepared for all the guests that will be feasting on turkey and all the trimmings and then some. It seems that around this time of year I start craving pumpkin pie and stuffing and candied sweet potatoes. OH, I can smell it now.

Arwen is going to have her first taste of real mashed potatoes. YUMMM! YUMMM!

GETTING SOME THINGS DONE :)

I have been making rag quilts without putting the batting in them. To me it is much easier. This one is for my grand baby Arwen Starr. The blanket seems to be the right weight to keep you warm. I will soon make me one. Our Guild is getting ready to give away our Compassion Quilts. Everyone seems to help out with this task. I put binding on 2 of the quilts for donation. This is one I put the binding on. I know I haven't been blogging very much lately, my life is quite busy right now and crazy. I am enjoying the leaves now for the fall. I am really glad we got back our one hour they keep taking away from us in the spring. Is it really necessary?
I am right now working at Joann's Fabric and Craft Store as a fabric cutter. I was hired for seasonal help. This job should help out with the Christmas holidays since the family keeps getting bigger. We sure don't want the stockings to be bare.
This was great timing to take a pic of Arwen. She just happen to spit up as the camera flashed. Gross Arwen!

Here is the little sweet pea under her new rag quilt.
SHHH!

SEWING ROOM

Okay, here is the pics finally of my new sewing room.
This "therapy in session" sign is hanging on my
door to the sewing room. My hubby got it for me. He had my neighbor Mary make it as a surprise for my birthday. Mary is in my guild. I really like the bright colors in it.

Here are the curtains I made. I only have one window.
I found some cute flowery ribbon stuff that make good tie backs for the curtains.

It matches great.

I seem to have a lot of fabric or maybe not enough.

my cutting table.

Can you see my pink Scooby?

This door caddy is a shoe rack.
It makes a great place to house more sewing stuff. I have one in my bathroom closest for shampoos, soap razors etc.

I also have room for someone to come and sit and visit on this old stool that needs to be repainted. Well I hope you enjoyed the tour.
I am enjoying my new room.

ARWEN, MY LITTLE SWEET PEA!

Yes this is a new pic of my grand baby. Took a few pics on the quilt I made for her in her pretty polk-a-dot dress. The little sweet pea is almost 8 weeks now.

I know there has not been much quilting stuff on my blog lately, I guess Arwen is in my spotlight now. Better put some side blinders on me like they do the horses so I can stay focused. I just LOVE her.

Keep on quiltin',

Transitioning

For the past week I have been painting my old sewing room that used to be my youngest son Kyle's room. (yes, I am a slow painter) He moved back home last July so, I gave him his old room back and moved my sewing room into our sun room. We put all the wicker furniture into the barn for safe keeping. That room is a lot bigger which was nice. Then in Nov. last year he moved out again. (oh the parents revolving door) But now my family seems to be getting so much bigger now with grand baby, grand dogs, grand kitty, girl friends that we need more space for seating when we are all together which seems a lot lately, so I have decided to move back into my sons small room.

My oldest son and his girlfriend moved out the first of May. They wanted to get their own place before the new baby came. So guess what, me and my hubby were empty nesters for a whole month. Yeah you guessed it my youngest son and his girl friend moved back in. I said "your old room is now mine so you will have to move into your brothers old room". Since their move was a fast one we painted that room in 1 day.

I sure have accumulated more fabric. Oh well! I think I will get more sewing done since I can lock people out. hahaha In the sunroom everyone could find me.
Hopefully some pics of new room soon. Got to make my curtains. OH YEAH ! a pic of Arwen.

Until next time,

Our new grandbaby girl is finally here. Arwen Starr was born June 8th, 2009 at 8:25pm.
The little cutie was 7 lbs. 12 oz. and 18 1/2" long. She is doing great just has a little jondace and having to be tested a lot for that.
Me & Jeff just thinks she's a doll. It's nice to have our family growing.
It time to get my hair dye out and cover those grays so I look like a very young grandma. HAHAHAHA...

I'M SO HAPPY! :)

I"M STILL AROUND

Yeah, I know I haven't been posting much these days, I guess my gardening and a lot of life is happening right now. Which is good for the most part at least you know you won't be bored. hahahah!!!!!
We are leaving today on another camping trip for a week. We still don't have our new grandbaby born yet. It will probably happen while we are camping. Only 1 hour & 20 min. from the city so, it won't take long to drive back for the new delivery. COME ON ARWEN!!!!!!!!

Plan on doing some sewing while camping. Going to work on my mystery quilt. So, should have some pics soon.

CAMPING

It is always good to get away but it is also good to get back home. We all had fun on our RV camping trip. Lots of fish were caught and released on this trip. My hubby caught a good size cat fish. Good catch honey!

We also celebrated our granddaughters b'day. Samara turned 4. She was so happy to receive presents and her Thomas cake. We are lucky that Arwen has not made her entrance to the world yet. Still have a few more weeks for that event.

Happy Birthday Samara!!!!! :-)

Happy quiltin' everyone,

MY OTHER CRAFT

Since about 1990 I started to do ceramics at the rec. center. That was a outlet for me to go talk to adults and not just listening to my children. My hubby would watch the kids and I would practically run out the door to escape. They had good quality time with their dad and had time to get my sanity back. Here is a pic of the latest things I have painted. I enjoy doing outdoors items. You can have only so many nic-nacks in your house that you don't want to dust. This way I let the outside rain do the cleaning. Even though my kids are all grown I still enjoy doing this art.

We are getting ready to go camping this sunday, I just love the outdoors.

Baby Shower.

Well the baby shower went great with no problems. We had a lot of people show up, I actually ran out of chairs. The food and cake was delicious. The cake was decorated very cute with a family of ducks on top. The cake says "Welcome Baby Arwen". Their were lots of pink gift bags with more pink attire in them. (i have never seen much pink)

Now that the shower is over I can concentrate on my mystery quilt lock-in. I need to get all my fabric cut and do the pre-sewing before April 25. Then we will be leaving for camping on the 26th for the week. I am excited about that, I enjoy getting away from the house and enjoying the fresh air.

BABY QUILT FINISHED

Here is the baby quilt finished with the binding on, finally. When my grand baby is born I will make the quilt label and attach it. Good thing I have it done cause the baby shower is this Saturday. It sounds like a lot of people will be able to make it to the shower. I hope I can pack them in like sardines.(hahaha)
April has been a very busy month for me, so I haven't been able to post like I would have liked too.
Well now you know I am still hanging around this world still.
Hope to blog soon,

Where's Spring?

What a rainy, icy not so spring day. I thought it was Spring. But I do live in Kansas. It is too bad the weather is so crazy with the ice. I hope it does not ruin all the little buds of the new growth that is coming up. Especially my Clematis's that seems to do being great until today.
I have received back the baby quilt I have been doing for my grand baby that will be here soon. I just love my pro long arm quilter that I usually use, she is so talented.(thanks Theresa :D) I am going to square it up this weekend and sew on the binding, since there will be no yard work this weekend. (due to weather) Well I need to go tend to the laundry and get started squaring.

Happy Quilting, Teresa

Baby Quilt Continues.......

Here is the quilt top I have made for my new grand baby that will be arriving soon. Pinks and blacks are the colors used and for some reason when I sketched up the design, hearts is what I could see putting in the design. There is also a pic of the quilt back fabric which is these cutie little ducks.
So it has been sent off to the professional machine quilter for her to do her magic on the quilt. Hopefully I will have it done for the baby shower on April 18th. Me and my hubby are so excited on the new arrival and our family getting larger.

GOBBLE GOBBLE

I finished up the tea towel with an appliqued turkey on it that I did at the sewing expo in 2008.
The easy part is applying the fabric pieces it's the button hole stitch around all the pieces that seem to take more time to do. I machine button holed stitched around it. It probably would have taken me much longer if I did it by hand. I should not complain cause I think it looks pretty good for a beginner. Well I'm going to go watch a movie with the hubby now. I'll chat soon.

Moving right along...........

It is such a nice day today even though the weather man said it was going to rain and we have no rain yet.
I have been busy working on the baby quilt, I am making some head way on it.
Here is a pic of my gk's they are so sweet. They are both wanting to see their new baby sister, which is not here yet until June 9th. They don't understand it is a time process. They say "get her out of your tummy, we want to see her." I JUST LOVE 'EM.......
So I am going to work on the baby quilt today for a while then we are going to a friends house tonight for movie night. I can't wait for spring.

I'm going to be a grandma

Well I am going to be a grandma, so I get to make a baby quilt. I decided to make the quilt using black and pink fabrics, the mommy really likes those colors and me too. Here are the fabrics I am putting in the quilt. I have designed a pattern on my graph paper. It is nothing fancy but I think will work great. Hopefully it won't take me too long to construct this quilt top and get it off to the machine quilter. Well this post will be continued later when I get further along on this quilt .

HELP, My blankets on fire!

I finally finished the quilt for my oldest son Jon. For a few years now I have been collecting flame fabrics. I had decided to use the "Turning Twenty" pattern. I have named it "HELP! My blankets on fire." I think it has turned out pretty neat. Here is a pic of it.... You can't say its not bright enough. Now to move on to the next project.

Sea Turtles are Coming!

I finally made something that was not so gigantic in
quilting. I guess you can say this is my first of few finished wall hangings. It is made with Batiks, which I just love. Even added some crystals on this "
piece of art" for air bubbles. It is a raw edge applique, I used invisible thread on top and tan thread in the bobbin . I think I will give this to my friend Darla. She likes to scuba dive and also likes sea turtles, I hope she will like it.

Well I better go have some lunch and try to finish up the
down stairs bathroom with the painting.

My African Violet

My husband got me this African violet plant from a couple that grow these very well and have won many champion ribbons for them. They had showed him how to water it with a piece of yarn coiled in the bottom of the flower pot with a tail hanging out of one of the bottom holes which then the yarn goes in to a bowl with a lid with a hole in it. It waters it's self which is just great.

Here is a pic of it .

My luck in growing these flowers before were always short lived. Hopefully not anymore.

I have been painting our downstairs bathroom which has not ever had any thing done to it since we have lived in our house since 1987. It had wallpaper that I stripped, and is being replaced with paint. We had put in new flooring, toilet, sink w/cabinet and shower knobs and head. It sure looks more updated now. Well I need to get back started on the bathroom again.

Secret sister night

Tonight at guild we revealed our secret sisters I could not believe that my ss was Jo Ellen who I sit with at guild meetings. I guess that shows that she can keep a secret. We are going to draw for new ss's in Feb.
I did win a door prize which was some fabric and a heart pattern. Well hopefully I can get this page looking like I want it to look. I am working on some pics now for the site.

My first blog.....

I am finally starting to blog. I like to read other quilt bloggers in my spare time which is usually late at night. Now I can share some of my thoughts and quilt projects.
