Christmas Project

For Christmas this year I am making my mother some place mats for her dining room table. As I have been cleaning her house I noticed that she has a pair of beaded candle rings that are purple and crystal beads with some pearls. So that was the inspiration for the purple color in the place mats.
I am making the mats 14 x 19 inches finished. I will also use fusible fleece in between the layers. I have never used the fleece before so I hope it is easy to work with.

On the back I think I will use the pansy fabric, so they can be reversible. I have also been contemplating about making the corners curved.
Such decisions.

Does anyone reading my blog
think that the curved corners would be a
good idea instead of the pointed corners?
I am making 6 mats and possible a runner too.

Let me know,
TERESA

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE

I want to wish everyone a happy, wonderful and family filled Thanksgiving. I have been getting my house prepared for all the guests that will be feasting on turkey and all the trimmings and then some. It seems that around this time of year I start craving pumpkin pie and stuffing and candied sweet potatoes. OH, I can smell it now.

Arwen is going to have her first taste of real mashed potatoes. YUMMM! YUMMM!

GETTING SOME THINGS DONE :)

I have been making rag quilts without putting the batting in them. To me it is much easier. This one is for my grand baby Arwen Starr. The blanket seems to be the right weight to keep you warm. I will soon make me one. Our Guild is getting ready to give away our Compassion Quilts. Everyone seems to help out with this task. I put binding on 2 of the quilts for donation. This is one I put the binding on. I know I haven't been blogging very much lately, my life is quite busy right now and crazy. I am enjoying the leaves now for the fall. I am really glad we got back our one hour they keep taking away from us in the spring. Is it really necessary?
I am right now working at Joann's Fabric and Craft Store as a fabric cutter. I was hired for seasonal help. This job should help out with the Christmas holidays since the family keeps getting bigger. We sure don't want the stockings to be bare.
This was great timing to take a pic of Arwen. She just happen to spit up as the camera flashed. Gross Arwen!

Here is the little sweet pea under her new rag quilt.
SHHH!
