GROCERY CART COVER

I sure know it has been along time since I've have posted something.

Well here are some pics of the grocery cart cover I made for my grand baby Arwen (a.k.a. Sweet Pea) so she won't hopefully get any of those germs on the shopping carts.

I used the Mc'Calls Craft pattern #5721. In stead of the pocket on the front I made 2 loops to hook on toys with those rings. She has a Winnie the Pooh book and a little critter hook on the loops. The fabric I used was Care Bears I found at Walmart.
She seems to enjoy it, at least she gets more padding for her little tushy.

Now working on my next project- a purse with grommets. So stay tuned for that one.

Bee it ever so Humble

Hello Everyone!!!!

I have took some time and worked on my bee wall hanging. I like to do machine applique as long as it is simple. I had also won $10.00 from my quilt guild when we had our UFO drawing. I had gotten 3 of my UFO's done that I had on my list so, my name was in the drawing 3 times. I am so happy. My little sweet pea is 8 months old now. I just love this pic.

Here are my 3 grand daughters with their valentines gifts from me. No candy this year.
Oh! Come on grandma where's the chocolate?

Mystery Quilt 2006

I never posted my pics of the mystery quilt I made. It is called Mystical Twist. This was the mystery quilt for 2006, I just finished it in 2009.
We are getting ready to go to another one on March 20, 2010. They are a real fun time with lots of sewing, eating and meeting other ladies with your same interest.

The mystery quilt starts at 10:00 am and goes until 10:00 pm. You don't know what the quilt will look like until 9:00pm that night. All thru the day you get steps of the construction.
I really like my colors in this one. I have been going to these since 2005 (i think) so that means I need to finish 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Project Finished

Here are the finished placemats, that was a Christmas present to my mom. I am really loving the purple. I keep forgetting to post the pic of this finished project.

They are reversible. So when you dirty one side just flip' em over. I will try to take a pic when she has them on the table. I used fusible fleece for these instead of batting which I think turned out much better. Oh yeah, and the curved corners were much easier to do when I turned it inside out.

Happy New Year,

CHRISMAS COOKIES - YUMMMO!

These are so tasty.

One of the Christmas traditions that we do every year is decorating Christmas cutout cookies.
This year there was 12 of us. Seems like every few years my family expands. (I like that) My best friend and her two grown daughters come to and maybe a boyfriend or two.

These are just some of the cookies me and my husband did. What ever cookie you decorate you can take it home with you. The older kids get pretty creative. Sorry I did not get pics of those.

Well these have to go the freezer until we need them for Christmas. Bye bye cookies, for now.
Oh yah! I cut out 145 cookies.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!,
TERESA

Christmas Project

For Christmas this year I am making my mother some place mats for her dining room table. As I have been cleaning her house I noticed that she has a pair of beaded candle rings that are purple and crystal beads with some pearls. So that was the inspiration for the purple color in the place mats.
I am making the mats 14 x 19 inches finished. I will also use fusible fleece in between the layers. I have never used the fleece before so I hope it is easy to work with.

On the back I think I will use the pansy fabric, so they can be reversible. I have also been contemplating about making the corners curved.
Such decisions.

Does anyone reading my blog
think that the curved corners would be a
good idea instead of the pointed corners?
I am making 6 mats and possible a runner too.

Let me know,
TERESA

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE

I want to wish everyone a happy, wonderful and family filled Thanksgiving. I have been getting my house prepared for all the guests that will be feasting on turkey and all the trimmings and then some. It seems that around this time of year I start craving pumpkin pie and stuffing and candied sweet potatoes. OH, I can smell it now.

Arwen is going to have her first taste of real mashed potatoes. YUMMM! YUMMM!

GETTING SOME THINGS DONE :)

I have been making rag quilts without putting the batting in them. To me it is much easier. This one is for my grand baby Arwen Starr. The blanket seems to be the right weight to keep you warm. I will soon make me one. Our Guild is getting ready to give away our Compassion Quilts. Everyone seems to help out with this task. I put binding on 2 of the quilts for donation. This is one I put the binding on. I know I haven't been blogging very much lately, my life is quite busy right now and crazy. I am enjoying the leaves now for the fall. I am really glad we got back our one hour they keep taking away from us in the spring. Is it really necessary?
I am right now working at Joann's Fabric and Craft Store as a fabric cutter. I was hired for seasonal help. This job should help out with the Christmas holidays since the family keeps getting bigger. We sure don't want the stockings to be bare.
This was great timing to take a pic of Arwen. She just happen to spit up as the camera flashed. Gross Arwen!

Here is the little sweet pea under her new rag quilt.
SHHH!

SEWING ROOM

Okay, here is the pics finally of my new sewing room.
This "therapy in session" sign is hanging on my
door to the sewing room. My hubby got it for me. He had my neighbor Mary make it as a surprise for my birthday. Mary is in my guild. I really like the bright colors in it.

Here are the curtains I made. I only have one window.
I found some cute flowery ribbon stuff that make good tie backs for the curtains.

It matches great.

I seem to have a lot of fabric or maybe not enough.

my cutting table.

Can you see my pink Scooby?

This door caddy is a shoe rack.
It makes a great place to house more sewing stuff. I have one in my bathroom closest for shampoos, soap razors etc.

I also have room for someone to come and sit and visit on this old stool that needs to be repainted. Well I hope you enjoyed the tour.
I am enjoying my new room.

ARWEN, MY LITTLE SWEET PEA!

Yes this is a new pic of my grand baby. Took a few pics on the quilt I made for her in her pretty polk-a-dot dress. The little sweet pea is almost 8 weeks now.

I know there has not been much quilting stuff on my blog lately, I guess Arwen is in my spotlight now. Better put some side blinders on me like they do the horses so I can stay focused. I just LOVE her.

Keep on quiltin',

Transitioning

For the past week I have been painting my old sewing room that used to be my youngest son Kyle's room. (yes, I am a slow painter) He moved back home last July so, I gave him his old room back and moved my sewing room into our sun room. We put all the wicker furniture into the barn for safe keeping. That room is a lot bigger which was nice. Then in Nov. last year he moved out again. (oh the parents revolving door) But now my family seems to be getting so much bigger now with grand baby, grand dogs, grand kitty, girl friends that we need more space for seating when we are all together which seems a lot lately, so I have decided to move back into my sons small room.

My oldest son and his girlfriend moved out the first of May. They wanted to get their own place before the new baby came. So guess what, me and my hubby were empty nesters for a whole month. Yeah you guessed it my youngest son and his girl friend moved back in. I said "your old room is now mine so you will have to move into your brothers old room". Since their move was a fast one we painted that room in 1 day.

I sure have accumulated more fabric. Oh well! I think I will get more sewing done since I can lock people out. hahaha In the sunroom everyone could find me.
Hopefully some pics of new room soon. Got to make my curtains. OH YEAH ! a pic of Arwen.

FINALLY ARWEN IS HERE :D

Our new grandbaby girl is finally here. Arwen Starr was born June 8th, 2009 at 8:25pm.
The little cutie was 7 lbs. 12 oz. and 18 1/2" long. She is doing great just has a little jondace and having to be tested a lot for that.
Me & Jeff just thinks she's a doll. It's nice to have our family growing.
It time to get my hair dye out and cover those grays so I look like a very young grandma. HAHAHAHA...

I'M SO HAPPY! :)

I"M STILL AROUND

Yeah, I know I haven't been posting much these days, I guess my gardening and a lot of life is happening right now. Which is good for the most part at least you know you won't be bored. hahahah!!!!!
We are leaving today on another camping trip for a week. We still don't have our new grandbaby born yet. It will probably happen while we are camping. Only 1 hour & 20 min. from the city so, it won't take long to drive back for the new delivery. COME ON ARWEN!!!!!!!!

Plan on doing some sewing while camping. Going to work on my mystery quilt. So, should have some pics soon.
